20 Feb 2010A joint is defined the area where two bones are attached for the purpose of movement of body parts. The bone surface is protected by a layer of cartilage, a shiny, smooth protective coating that buffers the impact of bones grinding against each other when we move. It works like a lubricant to reduce wear and tear. The cartilage, however, can become damaged or chaffed with age, overuse and misuse.
Your joint will undergo a certain amount of wear and tear as you age. Many of the day to day things that you do can place extra stress upon your joints without you knowing it consciously. Practicing good joint protection is important for everyone, especially if you have experienced joint pain, aches or stiffness.
